Being a Father Figure

I'm sorry that I continuously look for in the men I date what you couldn't provide for me when I grew up.

Being a father figure.

I never call you, and when I do, it's my fault we don't talk. You never call me unless you want to look like a good dad for the day.

And then I call you panicking, in absolute terror and pain, because I worried I had a disease and had been cheated...and it was like nothing to you.

All of those things ended up being untrue, but... you don't know that because you never called. So, as far as you know, your daughter is heartbroken and has AIDS and you aren't calling to console her. You'd know the truth if you would just be a parent.
